More People than ever are Listening to Podcasts
According to the annual Infinite Dial survey released last week, more Americans are listening to podcasts — and listening to them regularly — than ever. 67% of people in the U.S. (12 and older) have ever listened to a podcast, 47% listened in the last month, and 34% listened in the last week.
“Podcasting deserves a larger role in media plans as opposed to ‘test and learn’ experimental buys,” Bouvard writes.

Amazon Music is putting artificial intelligence to use as it rolls out a new feature designed to make it easier for users to explore and discover new podcasts. Called Topics, it lets users browse podcast episodes by the topics mentioned in episodes. The feature is rolling out across top podcasts on Amazon Music in the U.S. on both iOS and Android.

Amount of Ads in Podcasts Grows by 20%
Podcast ad spend increased by 22% year-on-year, but the amount of ads in podcasts has increased by 20%,
according to Magellan AI, which has published its Podcast Advertising Benchmarks Report for Q2 2024. The average ad load was 7.19% in Q2/24, up from 5.97% in Q2/23; which suggests that for a typical hour-long show, 4.3 minutes are advertising.

Australian Podcast Awards 2024: Date and Venue Confirmed
The organisers of the Australian Podcast Awards have officially announced the date and venue for the 2024 ceremony. The prestigious event will take place on Thursday, 21 November, at the luxurious Sofitel Darling Harbour in Sydney. The Listeners’ Choice category, the only award determined by public vote, will open for voting on 26 August.

Spotify Published its Q2 2024 Results
