Q+A with Zach Kangelaris, our new Sales Manager

We are thrilled to welcome Zach to the Ranieri & Co family as our new Sales Manager!

All who know Zach will agree that his down to earth, kind and hard working attitude would make him an asset to any business. We're so excited to have this legend on board who truly embodies our values of humility, empowerment and relentlessness. Get to know Zach better below.

Tell us about your career path so far?

My career path to date hasn’t been a traditional one, but it has been one of hard work and continual learning. Early days I dabbled in tennis coaching and event management before then moving to Melbourne for Uni. While at Uni - I was working part time at a childcare centre to pay the bills. I was then offered an internship with the influencer marketing platform TRIBE. I was then promoted to client partner and was looking after building and maintaining agency / brand relationships whilst the commercial model changed from a marketplace to a SAAS product.

Now I’m at Ranieri & Co as their Sales Manager and couldn’t be more proud of the development I’ve had to date and will continue to have working alongside this great team.

What made you want to work in the podcast industry?

The main reason is I love consuming podcasts. The outlying reasons are that I wanted to jump out of my comfort zone and learn something new, as much as I love consuming podcasts I am new to the industry as a whole and wanted to upskill and really challenge myself. There is also a lot of upside to the industry and it’s exciting as it is quite under-utilised when it comes to advertising. (On a side note I also want to create my own podcast so felt it was a natural step in achieving that).

What podcasts are you listening to right now?

Quite a few and they range from Personal Growth to business to even finance related ones. My favourite ones at the moment are Lewis Howes - School of Greatness, Business Wars & The Property Couch.

What’s a podcast you think more people should be listening to?

Startup Grind - it gives an interesting insight into the wonderful world of startup life: who these people are, where they come from, and their unique stories as to how they got where they are today.

What is the first podcast you ever listened to?

The first podcast I listened to was How I Built This by Guy Raz and I still love it to this day.

Aside from podcasting, what are some of your hobbies?

I’m quite active so I love running, gym, playing footy and tennis. Two of which involve listening to podcasts whilst doing them haha I also don’t mind a red wine or beer with great company.

Favourite holiday destination in Australia?

Hmmm in Australia I’d have to say Adelaide or Gold Coast, depends on who’s keeping me company on the trip and the time of year!

Favourite Advert?

There’s soo many but I’d have to say more recently I’m loving any ads that Ryan Reynolds is putting out for either Aviation Gin or Mint Mobile. Start with “The Process” ad for Aviation Gin and you’ll then want to watch the rest.

Words of advice for someone seeking a job like yours?

- Work hard, be a team player & lead without a title (no entitlement) - Be kind and humble

- Be a doer and don't be afraid of failing (keep trying)

- Make learning your goal and throw yourself into your learning by always being a sponge (be insanely curious) and question things so that you greater your understanding.
